Meet Sarah

I didn't know this field existed either

I graduated in dental hygiene with no idea myofunctional therapy was a thing. When I finally trained in it, I found that the dentists, pediatricians and ENTs I referred to were never taught it either. So in 2014 I started MyoMentor to fill that gap.

Quick answers

What is myofunctional therapy?

An exercise-based treatment that retrains the muscles of the face, mouth and throat (tongue, lips, cheeks and jaw) to rest and function correctly. It restores nasal breathing, correct tongue rest posture and a normal swallow, which supports sleep, craniofacial growth, orthodontic stability and overall wellness.

Who can become a myofunctional therapist?

Licensed and credentialed healthcare providers, most often dental hygienists, dentists and orthodontists, speech-language pathologists, and bodyworkers such as physical therapists, occupational therapists and chiropractors.

How long does the training take?

Our flagship program is 12 weeks, delivered online in live cohorts with weekly lessons and mentor support, designed to fit alongside a working clinical schedule.
