Welcome To MyoMentor

The field of myofunctional therapy Is growing and transforming every day! When I first started my myofunctional therapy practice in 2010, the field wasn’t that well known. Dentists, orthodontists, and even patients weren’t familiar with what I did.

But that’s ALL changed!

Myofunctional therapy has really taken off, and over the past five years, my practice has grown at a speed I could never have imagined. In addition to a stream of motivated patients, I’m being contacted daily by dentists, hygienists, speech-language pathologists, bodyworkers, and other medical professionals worldwide. They’re looking for ways to integrate myofunctional therapy into their practice and to offer a higher standard of care to their patients.

Myofunctional therapy has become mainstream, driven to a large degree by increased awareness of the importance of the airway, mouth, and tongue in our overall health, but also my new research being published and acknowledged.

The dental field is taking the lead in treating sleep apnea and other sleep-disordered breathing conditions, and tongue-tie is now being diagnosed and treated very differently to the way it was only a few years ago. Myofunctional therapy is now recognized as a key component to treating these complex conditions.

This is why so many hygienists, dentists, orthodontists, SLPs, and other healthcare professionals are either integrating myofunctional therapy directly into their practice or referring to trusted therapists who are up to date with the latest techniques. Demand for skilled myofunctional therapists is high and increasing day by day, and I have made it my mission to help fill the void. We need successful therapists out there, doing high-quality therapy in order for our field to grow and become a legitimate segment of medicine and dentistry.

Six Reasons Why MyoMentor Is Unique

More Than Just Training

This course involves long-term, continued guidance and support throughout your career. That's what I was looking for when I was a new therapist. MyoMentor is so much more than just training! My program gives students the ongoing support and encouragement they need to be successful myofunctional therapists.

Research-Driven

Scientific research must be the foundation of myofunctional therapy! The MyoMentor course is based on the latest research, allowing students and graduates to learn the newest protocols, techniques, and exercises. This translates into higher patient compliance and excellent results (and increased peace of mind for the therapist).

Continued Support

As a MyoMentor graduate, you get to be part of the MyoMentor community and benefit from our extensive, continued support. We offer five different study groups, and our Ambassador Program is designed to offer additional learning. Plus our private Facebook group is a fantastic resource.

Job Placement

My widespread network allows me to connect MyoMentor graduates with airway-focused dentists all over the world. Every day, dentists ask me how they can work with or hire a MyoMentor graduate. I love connecting professionals and helping them build their local teams and communities.

Modern Therapy

My approach to therapy is streamlined, simplified, and effective. My philosophy is to give patients the fewest number of exercises that are also the most effective. I'll teach you to focus on technique and compensations. I’ve even eliminated many commonly used but outdated exercises that are still being taught in the field.

Community

It's been my mission to build a community of professionals who support and encourage each other. As a group, we can succeed and go so much further than as individuals. Once you become part of the MyoMentor and Breathe Institute community, you'll have supportive friends and colleagues from all over the world.

Three Comprehensive Modules

30+ Hours Of Learning

Module One

Module One is all about identification of orofacial myofunctional symptoms. We see mouth breathing, tongue thrusts, and tongue-ties every day in our patients, but I want to help you see these symptoms through a new lens.

Tethered oral tissues (tongue, lip, and buccal ties) can be difficult to detect at times. By the end of Module One, you will be an absolute expert at identifying these symptoms and others in your patients.

All of these orofacial myofunctional symptoms connect to the big picture health conditions that our patients need help with. Sleep apnea and TMD are directly linked to myofunctional problems. Learning to understand and identify breathing and soft tissue dysfunctions is critical - you have to know what to look for in order to treat it.

Module Two

Module Two is all about treatment and therapy. You’ll learn essential exercises for successful therapy using targeted and precise techniques that have been proven in clinical practice. We’ll be covering exercises for pre and post tongue-tie surgery, sleep apnea and snoring, as well as TMD. We’ll also cover habit elimination and my Mini-Myo program for children under five.

My practice philosophy is to make therapy easy and attainable for our patients. This improves compliance and assures consistent results without overwhelming the patient.

Successful outcomes are about more than just teaching the exercises. The evaluation process is just as important as therapy, so you’ll learn how to communicate the importance of therapy during your consultation, and how to talk about treatment beyond the exercises.

Module Three

Module Three focuses on everything you need to know to run your practice, whether that’s as part of a dental or speech team or as an individual myofunctional therapist. From charting, systems, and insurance, to networking and building a multidisciplinary team, this module has you covered.

We’ll also be diving into difficult topics such as charging and how to discuss finances with patients. For hygienists who want to start their own myofunctional therapy practice, we’ll be looking at the mindset for success and all the practical aspects of starting and running your own business.

What About The Business?

The professionals who get trained in myofunctional therapy are skilled clinicians and love working with patients, but they can sometimes struggle with starting their own practice and running a business.

This is actually what I'm most passionate about. I've started three separate companies, and they've all been very successful. I love helping people start their own businesses and discover the time and financial freedom that comes along with it.

The entire third module of my 12-week course is dedicated to the business aspects of running a myofunctional therapy practice. This includes insurance, networking and team creation, marketing, patient records, and charting, business organization, finances and taxes, social media and websites, and much more.

If you don't want to start your own business, that's okay too. Many of the concepts that lead to business success can be applied in a team environment as well.

Topics we'll be covering include:

•    Online Tools and Resources
•    Successful Online Therapy
•    Medical Insurance and Billing 101
•    Getting an NPI #
•    Insurance Superbills – What They Are and How to Use Them
•    Building Your Network of Providers
•    Setting Up Your Office and Office Logistics
•    Ordering and Sourcing Supplies and How to Make or Buy Kits
•    Practice Management Software and Charting
•    Charging and Getting Paid for Therapy
•    Knowing Your Value
•    Understanding Limiting Beliefs
•    Practice Success and Planning for The Future

Frequently Asked Questions

The course is 12 weeks long and consists of three modules covering over 30 hours of learning (and eligible for 30 ADA/AGD approved CE hours for dental professionals).

Calls will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

The course is held online via two Zoom webinars per week - on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 PM Pacific time.

Monday’s session is usually an hour or so, while Wednesday usually runs to 75 minutes (but the sessions never go longer than 75 minutes).

However, all the course sessions are recorded and uploaded to the course platform in video format, so you can catch up with any you might miss, or review content at your convenience.

And you’ll have access to that content for two years.

This course was originally designed for dental professionals, and it has a dental focus. However, we've had many other healthcare professionals take the course, including medical doctors, speech-language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, and other body workers.

Their feedback is always great! They seem to really appreciate learning new information from a perspective they may not be familiar with. This is especially true when it comes to tongue-ties and sleep-disordered breathing.

Each call is 60-75 minutes long depending on how many questions are asked.

Each call is done like a webinar on Zoom - you see me on video, but you won't be on video yourself unless you want to be. All the resources, including videos, documents, and audio recordings are hosted on this website.

Every call is recorded so you'll have the opportunity to watch the video at a later stage. You don't need to attend each call live - if you can't make one you can watch the recording later.

Definitely! The entire third module is dedicated to the business aspects of running a myofunctional therapy practice.

This includes insurance, networking and team creation, marketing, patient records and charting, business organization,  social media and websites, and much more.

Yes! This course is eligible for 30 ADA/AGD approved CE hours for dental professionals.

Yes I do! When more people register together from the same practice, it brings down the price for each student's enrollment.

Please get in touch for more information.

We'll meet every Monday evening for our Group Teaching Sessions.

This is when I'll lecture on the topic of the week. Each session will be about an hour in duration; possibly up to one hour and 15 minutes depending on the number of questions asked. At the end of each Lecture Call, I will give you helpful topics to focus on with your own patients for the rest of the week.

These sessions will be recorded so that you can access them anytime for a review, or so that if you were unable to join the session live, you can listen on your own, and stay on track with the rest of the group.

We'll meet every Wednesday evening for our weekly Group Discussion and Application Session.

These 60-75 minute interactive sessions are when we’ll review the topic from Monday, and cover any questions that came up over the course of the week. Prior to each Discussion and Application Session, I ask that all participants email questions they would like to have answered. These questions will guide the discussion, and each participant will also have the chance to share and ask questions as they come up during the discussion.

I'm super excited to have you on board!

This course can change your career, your life, and your way of thinking about dentistry and health.

My goal is to help all of my students reach their career and success goals. If you’re not successful, then I don’t consider myself to be successful!

I want you to get as much as you can out of our time working together, and to have a lot of fun doing it. I want this learning experience to be enjoyable and rewarding for everyone involved.
