One system, many signs
Connecting the dots: the mind-body connections of oral dysfunction — symptoms across the head, ears, eyes, jaw, teeth, nose, mouth, throat, neck and body

Seemingly unrelated complaints, from headaches to crowded teeth to restless sleep, trace back to how the mouth, tongue, and airway function.

Meet your guide

Hi, I'm Sarah.

Sarah K Hornsby

I'm a former dental hygienist who became one of the most recognized voices in myofunctional therapy, but I started exactly where you might be right now: sensing that something connected my patients' symptoms, without the framework to name it.

As a clinician, international speaker, and educator, I've spent more than a decade helping providers see how oral function ties into breathing, sleep, growth, and whole-body health. Along the way we've built a community of 2,500+ graduates in 40+ countries, all working to change how their patients are cared for.

Former dental hygienist International speaker & educator Founder of MyoMentor
"You've felt it. The patient whose symptoms keep coming back, no matter how well you treat each one in isolation."
Why this matters

There's a pattern hiding in plain sight.

Across dentistry, speech therapy, and bodywork, providers are trained to treat symptoms within their lane. Myofunctional therapy looks at the function underneath the symptoms. When you learn to see how breathing, sleep, growth, and oral posture connect, you start finding the root cause instead of chasing the same complaint again and again. That shift is what better provider education makes possible.

What is myofunctional therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is the assessment and retraining of the muscles of the face, mouth, and tongue to improve how they work together. The way we breathe, chew, swallow, and position our tongue at rest has a profound impact on airway health, sleep, facial development, and overall well-being. When healthy function is restored, many chronic symptoms can begin to improve.

1
It looks at function, not just structure
The same muscles drive chewing, swallowing, tongue posture and breathing.
2
It crosses every discipline
In dentistry, speech, orthodontics, sleep and bodywork, function is the thread that connects them.
3
It addresses root causes
Identify and address the underlying dysfunction driving persistent symptoms.
